For my last film, we had a week to develop and shoot, so I wanted to collaborate with two incredible stage-to-screen actors, Kelly Burke and Laura Shipler Chico. Sitting in Laura's house, we devised Coming Out—a personal exploration of identity, family and the courage it takes to speak your truth in an age of polarisation.

The story follows Mary as she returns home for a family dinner with something important to share. Like so much of my work, my personal views and feelings seeped into this one. It felt like the right moment to tell this story.
